Not all those who wander are lost January 25, 2007
Posted by Ben in : Musings , trackbackMy cousin reminded me of this poem from The Fellowship of the Ring. It’s a poem by Bilbo, and he bursts out into it during the Council of Elrond. It’s about a character in the book (Strider/Aragorn), but I think it can also lend some inspiration to anyone who’s looking for magic / the fantastic / joy in the daily mundane but unable to find it.
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken:
The crownless again shall be king.
